In this lesson, your children will learn about what John saw in heaven – about how God the Father is on His throne and being worshipped. God's Son, Jesus, is with Him. Jesus is the only one who can solve a difficult problem, because He is the only one who is worthy. Jesus is also praised and worshipped because of who He is and what He has done. Your children will once again hear the Gospel message today … why we are separated from God, Jesus's sacrifice for us through His death and Jesus's resurrection.
Lessons
Revelation 2-3
In this lesson, your children will learn what message Jesus, our King, sends to the messengers of the seven churches in Revelation 2-3. They were real churches in real towns and cities at that time. Jesus sent a message to each church … giving them both encouragements and warnings. Then you will talk about an eighth church: your church. What is Jesus saying to your church? What is Jesus saying to your children’s class? After this discussion, each child is asked to write a letter from Jesus to himself/herself indicating areas where he/she is doing well and where improvement is needed.
Revelation 1
John, one of Jesus’s disciples, had a close relationship with Jesus. After Jesus died, John continued preaching about Jesus everywhere he went. Eventually, John was imprisoned on an island because of his faith. One day when John was worshipping in the Spirit, Jesus gave him a vision. Jesus told John to write everything down, and this later became the book of Revelation in the Bible. In Revelation 1, the children will learn about John's vision, a new description given of Jesus as He appears in heaven and how Jesus uses symbols to explain difficult things.
Revelation: Series Introduction
The whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is a story of God's love. The book of Revelation talks about Jesus, the victorious King, coming back to bring an end to all things. This is the completing message of the Gospel. Jesus will judge all people. Those who follow Him will be with Him forever. Evil will finally, and completely, be destroyed. Heaven will descend to earth, and God's home will be among His people for all eternity!
